VATICAN CITY, Oct 24 (Reuters) – - “The Vatican called on Monday
(UN Day, and the 66th anniversary of the UN’s creation) for sweeping reforms of the world economy and the creation of a ethical, global authority to regulate financial markets as demonstrations against corporate greed continued to spring up in major cities across the globe.”

“Blessed John XXIII’s teaching seems especially timely. In the prophetic Encyclical Pacem in Terris of 1963, he observed that the world was heading towards ever greater unification. He then acknowledged the fact that a correspondence was lacking in the human community between the political organization “on a world level and the objective needs of the universal common good”. He also expressed the hope that one day “a true world political authority” would be created. In the same spirit of Pacem in Terris, Benedict XVI himself expressed the need to create a world political authority.”
“It would seem logical for the reform process to proceed with the United Nations as its reference because of the worldwide scope of its responsibilities, its ability to bring together the nations of the world, and the diversity of its tasks and those of its specialized Agencies. The fruit of such reforms ought to be a greater ability to adopt policies and choices that are binding because they are aimed at achieving the common good on the local, regional and world levels.”
“Under the current uncertainties, in a society capable of mobilizing immense means but whose cultural and moral reflection is still inadequate with regard to their use in achieving the appropriate ends, we are invited to not give in and to build above all a meaningful future for the generations to come. We should not be afraid to propose new ideas, even if they might destabilize pre-existing balances of power that prevail over the weakest. They are a seed thrown to the ground that will sprout and hurry towards bearing fruit.”
“Modern States became structured wholes over time and reinforced sovereignty within their own territory. But social, cultural and political conditions have gradually changed. Their interdependence has grown – so it has become natural to think of an international community that is integrated and increasingly ruled by a shared system – but a worse form of nationalism has lingered on, according to which the State feels it can achieve the good of its own citizens in a self-sufficient way.”
“What is at stake is the common good of humanity and the future itself.In this context, for every Christian there is a special call of the Spirit to become committed decisively and generously so that the many dynamics under way will be channelled towards prospects of fraternity and the common good.”
“As Benedict XVI exhorts us, agents on all levels – social, political, economic, professional – are urgently needed who have the courage to serve and to promote the common good through an upright life. Only they will succeed in living and seeing beyond the appearances of things and perceiving the gap between existing reality and untried possibilities.”
Some have tried to distance themself from this release already but it is important to consider that it is an 18 page opinion piece which was approved for a press release to major news organizations and was timed to coincide with the 66th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations- UN day.
This has been in the works for a long time and it appears that the march towards one world government is about to get faster, rougher, and ugly. We already have Occupy Wall Street protests in the US, rioting in Greece, and pro-labor, union, and communists groups the world over are escalating their rhetoric and actions. We also have politicians acting in direct defiance of the will of the people in many countries.
It appears that even with all that, the ”progress” is slower than some would like due to lingering sense of moral duty by some to be civilized or to fulfill one’s oath or to have loyalty to one’s electorate. How can this misguided morality, nationalism, and tendence towards self-reliance be overcome? Hmmm.
What if the Vatican issued an indulgence for the sins about to be committed for the sake of the greater good?
From the Catholic Encylopedia
An indulgence is the extra-sacramental remission of the temporal punishment due, in God’s justice, to sin that has been forgiven, which remission is granted by the Church in the exercise of the power of the keys, through the application of the superabundant merits of Christ and of the saints, and for some just and reasonable motive.
It is my opinion that vatican is giving the UN, Occupy Wall Street, and politicians worldwide the moral cover to do all the dirty work required to achieve global government.
Read this section from the release again:
”We should not be afraid to propose new ideas, even if they might destabilize pre-existing balances of power that prevail over the weakest. They are a seed thrown to the ground that will sprout and hurry towards bearing fruit.”
It is amazing that a church institution that has any respect for the bible could advocate global governance since God literally destroyed man’s first effort towards globalism and then He scattered the people and confused their language to make it clear that he did not approve of the project.
Genesis 11: 4 And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” 5 But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. 6 And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. 7 Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” 8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.
“It is at this point God judged the first United Nations building, confounded the single human language into many, and established the Divine Institution of “tribal diversity” to promote social stability. ” http://www.focusonjerusalem.com/Globalism.htm
In addition, in His relations with Israel, God made it clear that centralized power was inferior to decentralized power. Examples include a) Jethro’s counsel to Moses to set up a decentralized government that could better serve the people - Exodus 18) and b) the story of the Israelites wanting a king and then later repenting for their “evil request” 1 Samuel 12:19.
History also shows that highly concentrated political power leads to horrific human rights abuses and massive loss of life. The vatican outlined the commonly known issues with our beloved planet, but in proposing a global authority to resolve them, it conveniently overlooks the problem with human nature. Who can be trusted to oversee the common purse for the good of mankind? Previous attempts to do this ended in massive human tragedy.
Proverbs 1: 10 My son, if sinners entice you,
Do not consent.
11 If they say, “Come with us,
Let us lie in wait to shed blood;
Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;
12 Let us swallow them alive like Sheol,[a]
And whole, like those who go down to the Pit;
13 We shall find all kinds of precious possessions,
We shall fill our houses with spoil;
14 Cast in your lot among us,
Let us all have one purse”—
15 My son, do not walk in the way with them,
Keep your foot from their path;
16 For their feet run to evil,
And they make haste to shed blood.
The idea of surrendering national sovereignty due to the urging of our spiritual leaders is eerie to say the least. It is also un-biblical and unwise. Man is still sinful. And concentrated power still ends in abuse and tyranny. One world government is a really bad idea. No matter how many churches endorse the idea, God doesn’t.
Proverbs 22:28 ”Do not move an ancient boundary stone set up by your ancestors.”
