About Durable Faith

What is durablefaith?

A durablefaith does not conform to the pattern of this world, it engages the world, overcomes evil with good and stands firm to the end.

A durablefaith does not forsake the assembly of the saints. It’s faith is nurtured, experienced, and expressed in the context of outward facing community.

A durablefaith is not intimidated by the fear of man or by men who govern other men. It seeks and speaks the truth fearlessly on all topics where the word of God is clear.

A durablefaith is not unprepared for days of opportunity or trouble. It stays ready and able to move, to act, to make the good confession, and to love not life unto the death.

A durablefaith is not enslaved through dependence on others. It prudently produces, provides, and gives cheerfully & generously.

A durablefaith does not neglect its first love; loving and worshiping JESUS. It seeks to abide in the secret place, the shadow of the almighty.

A durablefaith does not invest the lionshare of its treasure and time into buildings, programs, or organizations. It invests primarily and heavily into people.

A durablefaith does not seek to escape, it seeks to answer the following question affirmatively: “When the son of man returns, will He find faith on the earth?”

Why did I start the site?

This blog site started as a way for me to organize my thoughts as I wade through the issues of our times. It is also my contribution to prevent the great falling away. I hope it encourages you to have a faith that endures to the end, makes Jesus proud to find faith on the earth when He returns. I also hope it encourages the Church at large to remain salty and well lit in the dark days ahead.

In July of 2008 as I was praying in my backyard, I felt the Lord impress on me very clearly that dark storm clouds were on the horizon and moving our way. I began to pray, read, study, consider. What threats are coming our way? What can/should we do about it?I am concerned that the church is unaware and unprepared for the coming difficulties. I am concerned that the silence from our nation’s 300,000 pulpits may be creating a perfect environment for a great, or perhaps the great, falling away. As a Pastor I am against the great falling away and I feel that our Christian leaders need to a better job of helping believers understand the big picture and the non-negotiable principles where we must take a stand.

I believe that the biblical christian worldview has been blurred by our assimilation into our surrounding culture . We know that we are not supposed to be conformed to the pattern of the world (Ro 12) around us, but rather are to be transformed by renewing our mind according to the scriptures. But on many topics, the official sanctioned christian response is anything but biblical, it’s Peace, Peace.. when there is no peace, it’s rhetoric designed for itching ears.

You will not find “positive Christianity” rhetoric designed for itching ears here at Durablefaith. I will attempt to answer the question:  How then shall we live?

  1. This blog will seek to bring current events and trends into perspective by putting scripture side-by-side with the issues of our times and considering how scripture applies. Together, we will consider the most significant risks facing the church and the family in America and we will consider what actions we can take to deal with these risks. It is my hope that some would have a more durable faith as a result of this blog. I’d be delighted if you’d like to come along for the ride and join the discussion if you are so inclined.

Wow, this has to be about the clearest, most scriptural, and best written presentation in brief form of the historic one-stage coming view I have ever come across! You should write a book if you haven’t already; it would be a bestseller! Wondering if you are familiar with journalist/historian Dave MacPherson. His nonfiction, bestselling book “The Rapture Plot” (see Armageddon Books) has far more accurate details on pretrib rapture history (and more objective kudos from other scholars) than any other book. And his punchy web articles include “Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty,” “Famous Rapture Watchers,” and “Pretrib Rapture – Hidden Facts.” Please tell me that you will put your wonderful words into book form! Lord bless.

    • Charles, thanks for stopping by Durable Faith. I have been praying about writing a book. Thanks for the encouragement.
